Understanding Breast Surgery

Breast surgery can address a wide range of cosmetic and functional concerns. The most commonly performed procedures include:

Breast Augmentation

A procedure that uses implants or fat transfer to increase breast size, improve symmetry or restore volume lost after pregnancy, weight change or ageing.

Breast Reduction

A surgery designed to reduce breast size by removing excess tissue, fat and skin, helping patients who experience back or neck pain, posture problems or physical limitations due to heavy breasts.

Breast surgery is highly personalised. Each procedure can be performed alone or combined depending on your goals, anatomy and desired outcome.

Tailored Care for Every Patient

During your consultation, Mr Mistry will:

  • Discuss your concerns, goals and expectations

  • Review your medical history and breast health

  • Assess your breast shape, size, skin quality and overall anatomy

  • Explain which procedures (or combinations) are most suitable for your objectives

  • Guide you through implant types, incision options and lift techniques

  • Show before-and-after examples to help you visualise potential results

  • Answer your questions about recovery, scarring, longevity and risks

You will receive a bespoke treatment plan built around your body, lifestyle and aesthetic goals - ensuring you feel informed, confident and supported at every stage.

Breast Surgery Procedures

Breast surgery options are flexible and can be combined to create the result you’re hoping for. Here is an overview of how the core procedures work:

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation enhances size, volume or shape using silicone implants or — in some cases — your own fat.

How the procedure works

  • Performed under general anaesthetic

  • A small incision is made (in the breast crease, around the areola or under the arm)

  • The implant is placed either beneath the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle, depending on the desired shape and your anatomy

  • The incision is closed with dissolvable stitches

Ideal for

  • Increasing breast size

  • Restoring lost volume

  • Correcting asymmetry

  • Achieving fuller, rounder breast shape

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin to reduce breast size and improve comfort.

How the procedure works

  • Performed under general anaesthetic

  • Incisions are made to remove excess tissue and reshape the breast

  • The nipple is lifted to a more natural position

  • The breast is reshaped and sutured for a lifted, lighter and more balanced result

Ideal for

  • Back, neck or shoulder pain

  • Grooving from bra straps

  • Skin irritation beneath the breasts

  • Difficulty exercising due to breast weight

  • Improved comfort, posture and confidence

Recovery and Aftercare

Breast surgery recovery is individual, but most patients follow a similar pattern:

Immediately after surgery

  • You’ll wake in a supportive dressing or surgical bra

  • Mild discomfort, tightness and swelling are normal

  • You can usually go home the same day

First 1–2 weeks

  • Most patients return to light activities and desk work

  • Bruising and swelling gradually reduce

  • Avoid lifting anything heavy

  • Keep incisions clean and dry

  • Wear your post-surgical bra as instructed

Weeks 3–6

  • Discomfort continues to ease

  • You may begin gentle exercise

  • Scars begin to settle and soften

  • Many patients feel ready to resume normal routines

Long-term

  • Final breast shape appears over 3–6 months

  • Scars fade over time

  • Results are long-lasting, but weight changes, ageing and pregnancy can affect shape

Mr Mistry and his team will provide clear instructions and follow-up appointments to support safe and comfortable healing.
